French outfit Lyon are hoping to sign the Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri from Liverpool this summer.

According to reports, the French outfit have already submitted an offer for the 29-year-old winger. However, the player might have to lower his wage demands in order for the move to go through.

Shaqiri has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth at Liverpool since joining the club in 2018, and he needs to leave to play more often.

A move to the French club could be ideal for the player, and he would get to play regular first-team football with them.

Lyon have lost Memphis Depay this summer, and Shaqiri could be an alternative to the Dutchman. He will add goals, creativity and set-piece prowess to the side.

Despite his struggles at Liverpool, the Swiss winger is a top-class player. He showed that during the European Championships earlier this summer, he scored three goals and helped his country reach the quarter-finals of the competition.

Shaqiri is at the peak of his powers right now, and the 29-year-old could make an immediate impact at the French Ligue 1 club next season.

Liverpool are thought to be open to cashing in on their fringe players, and Shaqiri could be available for the right price this summer.

Furthermore, the Swiss international will be a free agent next summer and Liverpool are likely to want to cash in on him so that they don’t lose him on a free transfer.
