Bruno Fernandes responds to Jose Mourinho’s comments on his penalty record

Jose Mourinho aimed sly dig at United's Bruno Fernandes

Tottenham gaffer has previously taunted Fernandes regarding his penalty record.

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has come up with a fitting reply for Jose Mourinho’s comments.

The Spurs boss previously had a swipe at the Portuguese midfielder for scoring a lot of penalty goals.

“Bruno came in, was fit, played very well, improved the United team and also proved to be a great penalty taker, one of the best in the world, because he had about 20 to score,” Mourinho said.

Fernandes looks to have a reply now, stating that he is unperturbed by Mourinho’s comments.

“I honestly did not feel stung.”

“I feel that I am a good penalty taker and nothing more, I understand, but what I take from his [Mourinho’s] words, because I’m a very positive person, is that he said I hit penalties well.”

The Red Devils star also sees himself on par with Man City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, who was the best in the Premier League last season.

“I hear people saying, ‘ah, he only scores from penalty kicks’ but a little while ago, I saw the statistics and, except for penalties, only Kevin De Bruyne has a higher involvement in goals than me in England when it comes to midfielders.”

Regardless of Mourinho’s comments, Fernandes has been highly influential for the Red Devils since his arrival in January. He was vital behind Manchester United’s Champions League qualification for the next season.
