Paris Saint-Germain picked up a 3-1 win over Nantes in Ligue 1 earlier tonight.

The win takes Mauricio Pochettino’s side seven points clear at the top of the table.

The likes of Kylian Mbappe, Dennis Appiah (own goal) and Lionel Messi scored for the hosts and Randal Kolo Muani grabbed the consolation goal for the visitors.

Here at Anytime football, we look at the three major talking points from tonight’s contest.

Kylian Mbappe – the star of the show

The French international was in inspired form tonight and he managed to score a goal and set up another for Lionel Messi.

Mbappe has been in spectacular form in recent weeks and it will be interesting to see if he can guide his side to silverware this season.

The 22-year-old has scored seven goals in his last four appearances for club and country and he has picked up five assists in that period as well.

Suspension of Keylor Navas

The Costa Rican international was sent off 20 minutes into the second half and Mauricio Pochettino will be unhappy with the experienced goalkeeper letting his side down at a crucial stage of the game.

It will be interesting to see if the Argentine manager decides to bring in Gianluigi Donnarumma into the starting lineup next week.

The Italian has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth and he missed out on tonight’s match because of illness.

Nantes’ miserable form continues

The away side have been quite disappointing in recent weeks and the 3-1 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain will extend their poor run of form.

The visitors have failed to win four of their last six league matches and they cannot afford to keep dropping points.

Nantes have picked up just 18 points from 14 league matches and their fans will be expecting much better in the coming weeks.
