PSG 4-0 Montpellier: Mbappe back in scoresheet; Neymar, Icardi add to the tally

Neymar-PSG

Paris Saint-Germain picked up a 4-0 win over Montpellier in the French League earlier tonight.

The Champions were dominant from start to finish but their task was made easier when Jonas Omlin picked up a red card on the 19th minute of the game. The Swiss goalkeeper was sent off after he took out Mbappe. Initially, he was awarded a yellow card but he was sent off after VAR review.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side opened the scoring on the  34th minute when Angel Di Maria set up Kylian Mbappe.

The home side doubled their advantage on the 60th minute and this time goal scorer Kylian Mbappe turned provider for Neymar. The Brazilian scored his 81st goal for PSG tonight in his 100th game for them.

Mauro Icardi added the third goal of the game just a minute later and Kylian Mbappe wrapped up the scoring on the 63rd minute from an impressive counter-attack led by Mauro Icardi.

The win tonight leaves Paris Saint Germain at the top of the French League with 45 points from 21 matches and Montpellier have dropped down to 11th with just 28 points.

The away side have now lost four of their last six matches and the other two games have ended in a draw. They will have to improve immensely in order to push for European qualification and it remains to be seen if they can bounce back strongly in their next outing.

The only negative for Pochettino will be the injuries to Keylor Navas and Marquinhos tonight.
