Paris Saint Germain have been dealt a massive injury blow before the start of their UEFA Champions League campaign and midfielder Marco Verratti has been sidelined for the next 10 days with a knee injury.

The Italian international is set to miss tomorrow’s Champions League opener against Club Brugge and league games against Lyon and Metz.

Verratti is one of the best midfielders at the club and his departure will certainly weaken Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

However, the Ligue 1 outfit have enough quality in their squad to see out the next few games without their star midfielder.

PSG signed Gini Wijnaldum on a free transfer from Liverpool and the Dutch international is likely to fill in for Verratti at the heart of Pochettino’s midfield. Although Wijnaldum has a different skill-set to that of the Italian, he should be able to get the job done.

Apparently, the central midfielder picked up a bruise on his left knee while on international duty last week.

The Italian international has had several injury problems since joining the French club and he will be hoping for better luck on the injury front the season.

The likes of Sergio Ramos and Layvin Kurzawa are also currently recovering from their respective injuries.

PSG have had a sensational transfer window this summer and they will be hoping to win the league title and the Champions League this season.

They have managed to sign top class players like Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Gini Wijnaldum and Achraf Hakimi.
