The Three Lions star could sign a contract extension with Spurs, this time with a release clause included.

Manchester City appeared to be hell-bent on signing Harry Kane in the summer transfer window but was to no avail in the end.

Tottenham were reluctant to sell their prized asset and demanded around 150m pounds from the Sky Blues.

After a summer full of drama, Kane released a statement in the end that he would stay put at Spurs this season.

According to a new report, Man City will not try their luck again next summer and have identified alternatives for Kane.

City’s need for a striker increased after Sergio Aguero left the club for Barcelona on a free transfer. Kane emerged as a top target for City, and Pep Guardiola confirmed their interest. At the same time, he insisted that it would be difficult to sign the Three Lions star if Spurs refuse to negotiate.

It has also been added that Kane is open to penning a new deal with the North Londoners.

However, unlike the last time when he signed a long-term contract in 2018 with no definitive release clause, Kane would demand a buyout clause this time around.

In hindsight, the 28-year-old must be regretting for committing his future to Spurs, which turned out to be a hindrance while forcing out a move in the summer.

The Premier League champions have been linked with young strikers like Dusan Vlahovic and Erling Haaland and could make a move for them in the next transfer window.

Kane is yet to open his account in the Premier League this season under new Spurs boss Nuno Santo.
