Aaron Ramsey turns down Tottenham move, Sardar Azmoun confirms summer offer

Manchester United could be destination for Juve's Aaron Ramsey

Sardar Azmoun confirms Spurs offer

Tottenham were keen on signing the Zenit St Petersburg forward Sardar Azmoun during the summer transfer window.

The player has now confirmed that his club turned down offers from Tottenham, Lyon, Bayer Leverkusen and Roma earlier this summer.

The 26-year-old will be a free agent next summer and he has revealed that he will look to leave when his contract expires.

“I have a contract with Zenit, even if I wanted the leave, there would be nothing I could do. I received offers from Tottenham, Lyon, Leverkusen and Roma, but they [Zenit] rejected them. If I leave, I’ll do it at the end of my contract in the summer,” the striker added.

Tottenham needed to add more goals and depth to their attack and therefore the move for Azmoun is hardly surprising.

The Zenit attacker has scored five goals in six appearances in the Russian Premier League this season and he could have proven to be a useful addition for the Premier League side.

Aaron Ramsey turned down Spurs

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur were keen on signing the former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey from Juventus this summer but the player decided to turn down a move to the north London club.

The Welsh international has had a torrid time at the Italian club since his move from Arsenal and he was heavily linked with an exit this summer.

A move back to the Premier League would have been ideal for the central midfielder but it is understandable why he turned down the chance to join Spurs.

The Welshman used to be a fan favourite at Emirates and a move to Tottenham would have jeopardized his relationship with Arsenal fans.
