Van de Beek’s agent confirms Everton talks

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek’s agent has confirmed that there were talks with Everton towards the end of the summer transfer window regarding a move.

The 24-year-old has struggled to play regularly at Old Trafford and he needs to move in search of first-team football.

However, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer called up the midfielder’s agent prior to the deadline day and informed him that the Dutchman will not be sold this summer.

Apparently, the player’s camp spoke to the Everton director Marcel Brands and club owner Farhad Moshiri.

The Dutchman’s agent also confirmed that the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo is bad news for his client.

Guido Albers said: “Cristiano arrived on Friday which we knew was bad news for us. (Paul) Pogba plays on the left, and with Cristiano’s arrival it means another extra player in midfield with Pogba moving away from the left.”

He added: “We had conversations with Solskjaer and the board. We took the initiative to find a club and our search ended up at Everton. We opened talks with Marcel Brands and Farhad Moshiri.

“On Monday night (prior to deadline day) we received a call from Solskjaer and the club who told us that a transfer was out of the question and that he had to report himself to training the next morning.”

Aliou Traore joins Parma

Former Manchester United midfielder Aliou Traore has completed a free transfer to Parma.

According to reports, the Premier League side released him on the 30th of June.

The former Paris Saint Germain midfielder signed a professional contract with the Old Trafford outfit back in January 2018 but he was unable to make the desired impact.

The midfielder was likened with the French international Paul Pogba because of his physicality and technical ability.

It will be interesting to see if he can impress with the Italian club in the second division of Italian football now.
