Martin Odegaard has confirmed that he will play for Real Madrid next season.

The Norwegian attacking midfielder was on loan at Arsenal this past season, and he managed to make quite an impression at the London club.

Arsenal improved in the final third after his arrival, and there were reports that the Gunners would try to sign the player permanently before the start of the next season.

Odegaard had to leave Santiago Bernabeu after failing to secure regular first-team football under the previous Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane. It will be interesting to see if he can establish himself as a first-team player under Carlo Ancelotti.

There is no doubt the Norwegian midfielder is immensely talented, and he has a massive future ahead of him. But he needs to play more often in order to fulfil his potential.

According to reports, Real Madrid plan to keep him at the club next season, but they could cash in on the Spanish midfielder Isco Alarcon for the right price.

Isco has struggled for regular game time at Real Madrid as well.

Martin Odegaard has already said his goodbyes to the Arsenal fans. He sent out an emotional message on social media earlier, claiming that the fans of the London club will always have a special place in his heart.

The midfielder also thanked his teammates and the manager.

Arsenal need to bring in a quality attacking midfielder, and they tried to sign Emiliano Buendia from Norwich earlier. It will be interesting to see who they move for next.
