Aston Villa 0-3 Leeds United: Villa stunned at home after Bamford hat-trick

Patrick Bamford-Leeds United

A second-half hat trick from Patrick Bamford seals all three points for Leeds United.

Leeds United are back to the winning ways after 3-0 routing of Aston Villa Park as Patrick Bamford completed a brilliant hat trick.

Both the sides played a goalless first half although they had a great chance to find the nets. Jack Grealish was unfortunate to find his shot cleared off the goal line by Luke Ayling while Patrick Bamford, at the other end, fired his shot wide.

The hosts looked lively in the first half as Grealish had his shot denied by the young goalkeeper Illan Meslier. The Whites goalkeeper went on to make another save, denying Ezri Konsa’s volley from a set-piece.

Soon after, Leeds drew first blood through Bamford’s goal. Rodrigo’s strike was initially saved by Emiliano Martinez but Bamford was at the right place to pounce on the rebound.

The English striker scored his second of the night after a brilliant left-footed strike before he completed his hat trick in little less than ten minutes.

After receiving the pass from Helder Costa inside the box, Bamford curled in an amazing left-footed effort despite being engulfed by three defenders. Martinez had no chance but to watch the ball travel into the top right corner of the nets.

Villa had a chance in the dying minutes but Ollie Watkins fired his shot wide and nevertheless it was too late for the home side to make any difference.

Leeds have bounced back with an emphatic win after the 1-0 defeat against Wolves earlier this week at Elland Road.

Meanwhile, Villa’s winning run, which saw them defeat Liverpool and Leicester City, has been ended by Leeds.
