Man United 3 – 2 Brighton: Fernandes scores a late penalty in injury time

Man United 3 - 2 Brighton Fernandes scores a late penalty in injury time drama

The Reds Devils have produced a dramatic comeback against Brighton.

Manchester United have won their away fixture against Brighton after a late injury-time drama earlier today at Falmer Stadium in Premier League.

Brighton drew first blood after Neal Maupay netted a nonchalant penalty, conceded by Bruno Fernandes.

Man United were able to level the score with the help of Lewis Dunk’s own goal right before the half time whistle.

United capitalised on the equaliser and went on to add another goal, this time it is Marcus Rashford who scored a splendid solo goal. Rashford also denied goals on a few occasions due to offside.

Graham Potter’s side sustained more possession since then and they finally got their price in the injury time as Solly March scored the equalizer.

However, Brighton’s joy short lived as Maupay, the scorer of the first goal gave away a cheap penalty in the extended injury time. Man United midfielder Fernandes netted the decisive penalty to send his side home.

The Portguese midfielder was crucial behind United’s first win of the Premier League as he also threaded in the through ball in the counter-attack for Rashford’s goal.

Brighton’s hopes to secure a point was shattered by the late drama though they can be happy about the way they played. The complacency in the final third proved too costly for them.

Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have produced another cynical performance, though this time the end result is different, following their defeat against Crystal Palace.
