Chelsea and Juventus eyeing transfer involving Matthijs De Ligt and Timo Werner

Matthijs-De-Ligt-Juventus

Chelsea are hoping to sign the Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt this summer.

According to reports, the two clubs are looking to work out a deal involving Timo Werner. As per Mail, Chelsea have already seen a bid worth around £34m plus Werner turned down for the Dutch international.

Chelsea have seen the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leave this summer, and they desperately need defensive reinforcements.

De Ligt is one of the brightest defensive prospects in European football, and he could be a solid long-term signing for Chelsea.

The defender has a release clause of £102m, and Chelsea hopes to sign him for a knockdown price.

De Ligt was linked with a move to the Premier League during his time at Ajax, and it will be interesting to see if he can get his move this summer.

Chelsea will be looking to challenge the Premier League title next season, and bringing in a quality defender could prove vital for them.

The Blues are thought to be keen on signing Nathan Ake from Manchester City as well. Ake has been a useful option for the Champions, and he could replace Christensen at Stamford Bridge next season.

Meanwhile, Werner has been a major disappointment since his £53m move from RB Leipzig, and it is about time Chelsea cut their losses on him.

Werner needs a fresh start, and a move to Italy could help him kickstart his career. The move makes sense for all parties, and it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds.
