Erling Haaland continued his dream run, as the teenager was adjudged ‘Man of the Match’ in a star-studded match between Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund. The Norwegian revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo has been his inspiration, when he started the game.

The 19-year-old has scored an astonishing 11 goals from just seven matches for Borussia Dortmund after moving with a Red Bull Salzburg in January. Between Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund, the 19-year-old has scored a sensational 39 goals in 29 games this season.

While speaking about his success so far, Haaland referenced Cristiano Ronaldo as the benchmark or role model. ‘I would love to meet him and tell him that I am a footballer thanks to him. For me, he was always a model,’ he told.

Reports in Italy suggest Haaland could be joining Ronaldo’s in the summer. The Noway international’s agent, Mino Raiola has very good terms with Juventus and engineered Matthijs de Ligt’s transfer to Juventus last summer from Ajax.

It is believed that with Emre Can joining Borussia Dortmund on a permanent basis in January for £21m. Juventus may look to use him as a makeweight for Haaland to move to Turin. Juventus forward Ronaldo is clearly Haaland’s role model, earlier this week.

Haaland could meet idol in this UEFA Champions League campaign, if they both progress from their last-16 ties and draw each other in the quarter-finals or beyond. Dortmund travel to Paris for the second leg on March 11, while Juventus are yet to play their round-of-16 match against Lyon.
