Chelsea confirm the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan

Inter 2-0 Udinese - Lukaku's brace lift Inter in second spot

Chelsea have completed the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan.

According to a statement on the club’s official website, the player has signed a five-year contract with the London club.

Lukaku had a prior spell with Chelsea from 2011 to 2014 but the Belgian struggled to hold down a regular starting berth for the Londoners back then.

The 28-year-old is a different player now and he has developed into one of the best strikers in the world.

Lukaku will feel that he has unfinished business at Stamford Bridge and he will be hoping to guide the Blues to trophies this season.

The Belgian international helped Inter Milan win the Italian league after eleven years and he managed to score 24 goals and pick up 11 assists in the Serie A.

The Blues have reportedly paid a club-record fee for the 28-year-old striker and it remains to be seen whether Lukaku can justify his price tag.

Speaking to the club’s official channel after his return to Stamford Bridge, Lukaku revealed that he is delighted to be back at the Premier League club and he is looking to help his boyhood club win more titles now.

“I’m happy and blessed to be back at this wonderful club,” said Lukaku. “It’s been a long journey for me: I came here as a kid who had a lot to learn, now I’m coming back with a lot of experience and more mature.

“The relationship I have with this club means so much to me, as you know. I have supported Chelsea as a kid and now to be back and try to help them win more titles is an amazing feeling.

“The way the club is going fits my ambitions perfectly at 28 and just coming off winning Serie A. I think this opportunity comes at the right time and hopefully, we can have a lot of success together.

“Since I left Chelsea, it’s been a long journey with a lot of ups and downs, but these experiences made me strong and the challenge is to try to help the team win some more trophies. I can’t wait to get started and to help the club achieve more success.”
