Lampard has been officially relieved off his duties at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have confirmed the sacking of manager Frank Lampard, who has struggled to produce results of late.
The writing was on the wall for the former English international following a string of lacklustre results, which culminated in the 2-0 defeat to Leicester City last week.
Lampard although being a fan favourite for the club, his poor displays seem to haven’t satisfied the hierarchy, who in turn decided to part ways with him.
The Blues owner Roman Abramovich offered his thoughts on Lampard stating that the former player’s legacy would remain intact despite his sacking.
This was a very difficult decision for the club, not least because I have an excellent personal relationship with Frank and I have the utmost respect for him,” said Abramovich.
“He is a man of great integrity and has the highest of work ethics. However, under current circumstances we believe it is best to change managers.”
Furthermore, Chelsea have reportedly identified Thomas Tuchel as Lampard’s heir to the throne, with the German manager also agreeing to become their new manager.
Tuchel had been without a job ever since he parted company with PSG last month and was in the contender’s list for Lampard’s possible replacements.
Now, the former Borussia Dortmund gaffer is set to enter into the Premier League for the first time in his managerial career and the Londoners are expected to make the announcement sooner.
