Chelsea are reportedly prepared to submit a £130 million bid for the Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

The 21-year-old striker has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for a while now, and the Blues have been trying to agree on a deal with the German outfit.

Chelsea’s previous approach was turned down

According to reports, Chelsea tried to agree on a player plus cash deal for Haaland involving Timo Werner, but Dortmund have knocked back their approach.

The Premier League giants are now prepared to submit a cash offer of £130 million after receiving the green signal from owner Roman Abramovich.

The Russian is determined to sign a world-class forward this summer so that Chelsea can build on their Champions League win from last season.

Options Chelsea had

Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku were on Chelsea’s shortlist as well. But Man City look to set for the Harry Kane deal, and Romelu Lukaku, not being interested in being back in Premier League, Chelsea have Erling Haaland to fill in their centre forward position.

It is no secret that the Blues will have to bring in a quality goal scorer after a disappointing season from Timo Werner.

Why Haaland?

The German international was signed from RB Leipzig in a £45 million deal last summer, but the striker produced just six goals in the Premier League.

On the other hand, Erling Haaland has been in red hot form for Dortmund, and he managed to score 41 goals across all competitions.

His outstanding form and prodigious potential have prompted Chelsea to smash the British transfer record for his services, and it will be interesting to see if the Blues can convince Dortmund to part with their prized asset in the coming weeks.
