Claudio Ranieri returns to the Premier League with Watford

Claudio Ranieri

Watford have appointed Claudio Ranieri as their new manager.

According to Sky Sports, the Italian is expected to sign a contract with the Premier League club today.

The Hornets have picked up seven points from seven matches since promotion to the Premier League and Xisco Munoz was relieved of his duties as the manager of the club after less than 10 months in charge following a defeat against Leeds United on Saturday.

Ranieri has been without a job since leaving Sampdoria at the end of last season and it will be interesting to see if the Italian manager can transform Watford’s fortunes and guide them to a respectable finish this season.

The top priority for the newly-promoted side will be to avoid relegation and Ranieri seems like a quality appointment for them.

The Italian has managed in the Premier League before with Chelsea and Leicester City. his greatest achievement was guiding Leicester to the Premier League title back in 2016 and the Watford fans will be expecting an immediate impact from the Italian after the international break.

Ranieri is highly experienced and he has proven his pedigree in the Premier League before.

According to Sky Sports, the Italian manager is well known by the Watford owners and that is one of the main reasons why he has been chosen for the role.

Apparently, the Hornets were keeping tabs on him for quite some time now.

It seems that Rainieri’s first game in charge will be the Premier League home game against Liverpool after the international break on the 16th of October.

The Reds are in impressive form right now and Watford will have to be at their best to grind out a positive result at home.
