Everton pile further misery on Arsenal with a 2-1 win

Everton picked up a 2-1 win over Arsenal in the Premier League earlier tonight.

The Toffees picked up their third goal successive win to pile further misery on the Londoners in a close contest earlier.

Everton took the lead on the 22nd minute when Rob Holding scored an own goal.

Arsenal got back into the game on the 35th minute when Nicolas Pepe scored from the penalty spot. However, their joy was shortlived as Yerry Mina put Everton ahead once again at the stroke of half time.

Arsenal came close to the leveller once again in the second half when David Luiz’s deflected shot hit the post.

The win tonight takes Everton up to second in the Premier League table with 26 points and they are now five points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are 15th in the Premier League standings with just 14 points after their 4th defeat in five League games. The Gunners take on Chelsea in the Premier League in their next outing and it will be interesting to see if they can bounce back strongly with a win in the London Derby.

Everton will be delighted to have picked up a vital win in a tough league game and Carlo Ancelotti will be looking to build on this.

The Toffees will want to challenge for European football this season and these wins will give his side immense confidence.
