Everton 2-2 Liverpool: Controversial VAR decisions were crucial to the outcome

Carlo Ancelotti-Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw against Everton in the Premier League earlier at Goodison Park today.

The Reds scored the opening goal of the game three minutes in when Sadio Mane found the net from close range after a fantastic cross from Andy Robertson.

However, the Reds were dealt a significant injury blow three minutes later when Virgil van Dijk had to go off with a knee injury following a horror tackle from Jordan Pickford.

The Everton keeper deserved a red card, but Michael Oliver decided to let him off without warning even.

Everton got back into the game later on in the first half when Keane headed in a superb corner from James Rodriguez.

The Reds had other chances to go ahead, but the likes of Mane failed to find the net.

Mohamed Salah gave the Reds their lead back late on in the second half with a fantastic volleyed effort, but Everton clawed their way back through Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Liverpool looked like they had won the game when Jordan Henderson scored in stoppage time, but the goal was wrongly disallowed as offside.

Jurgen Klopp will be disappointed with the diabolical refereeing on the show today, and it will be interesting to see how Liverpool bounce back from this.

The players will feel hard done by after putting in a superb effort away to a good team.
