FIFA have announced their shortlist for the best men’s and women’s awards for 2021.
The shortlist reveals the nominations for the best players in both categories and the best coaches as well.
According to FIFA’s official website, the awards are judged based on the performances during the calendar year beginning on the 8th of October 2020 up until the 7th of August 2021. The calendar year for the women’s awards concludes on the 6th of August 2021.
The report further states that the awards will be decided by panels and public voting.
The nominees for the Puskas award are yet to be revealed and the event is set to take place in Zurich on the 17th of January 2022.
The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have been unsurprisingly named on the shortlist for the men’s award. Both players have been exceptional for over a decade now and they are undoubtedly some of the best footballers of their generation.
Meanwhile, the women’s nominees include the likes of Lucy Bronze, Ellen White and Sam Kerr.
As far as the managers are concerned the likes of Antonio Conte, Pep Guardiola, Thomas Tuchel, Emma Hayes and Sarina Wiegman have been nominated among others.
Premier League goalkeepers Alison Becker, Edouard Mendy and Kasper Schmeichel have been shortlisted for the goalkeeper’s award.
