Leeds United

Leeds United will look to get back to winning ways when they welcome fellow relegation contenders of last season Everton to Elland Road.

Having started the season brightly with two wins and a draw in their first three league games, the hosts lost their first game of the season last weekend when they were beaten 1-0 by Brighton.

In a tightly contested game at the Amex Stadium, a 66th-minute goal from the in-form Pascal Groß made the difference, leading Jesse Marsch’s men to their first competitive loss in seven games.

They now return to Elland Road, where they have won their last three consecutive competitive games looking to make it four in a row. Having beaten both Wolves and Chelsea on this ground, they will fancy their chances of getting a win that will see them equal their August 2001 record of winning three straight league openers at home.

Possible Leeds United starting line-up

Illan Meslier; Nissen Kristensen, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch, Pascal Struijk; Tyler Adams, Marc Roca; Brenden Aaronson, Rodrigo, Moreno, Jack Harrison; Daniel James.

Injured: Stuart Dallas, Mateusz Bogusz

Doubtful: Luke Ayling,  Junior Firpo, Patrick Bamford

Suspended: None

Everton

Everton extended their wait for a Premier League win to the sixth game when they were held to a 1-1 draw with Brentford last time out.

Frank Lampard’s side have opened the season with two draws and two losses, leaving them already close to the relegation zone which they are desperate to avoid this season.

The visitors survived Premier League survival last season by the slightest of margins and will not want to get embroiled in another survival fight this season. But given their struggles in attacking areas, it seems unlikely that they can survive or put together a solid run of form without solving their scoring problems.

In four games this season, the Toffees have not scored more than one goal in a game. The last time they discord over one goal in a PL game was in their miraculous win over Crystal Palace–a match where Richarlison played a starring role.

But the Brazilian who has been sold to Tottenham this summer is no longer here to bail out Lampard’s side. Lampard will now hope that new signing Neal Maupay who is in line to make his debut in this game having joined from Brighton over the weekend, will be able to provide the goals that have been lacking for his side.

Possible Everton starting line-up

Jordan Pickford; Conor Coady, James Tarkowski, Michael Keane; Nathan Patterson, Alex Iwobi, Amadou Onana, Vitalii Mykolenko; Anthony Gordon, Demarai Gray, Dwight McNeil.

Injured: Ben Godfrey, Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Andros Townsend, Abdoulaye Doucoure

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
