AS Roma

AS Roma ensured that they continued their unbeaten start to the season by snatching a credible draw against Juventus last time out.

In an entertaining game at the Allianz Stadium, Juventus opened the scoring in the second minute when Dusan Vlahovic fired home an inch-perfect free kick under the crossbar. But a second-half goal from Tammy Abraham ensured that Jose Mourinho’s men left Turin with a deserved point.

The result extended their unbeaten run in Serie A to five games (W3, D2) and also ensured that they remain firmly in the title race, as the seven points they have accumulated so far mean that they come into this tie level on points with Napoli and AC Milan who are occupying the first and second positions.

And so, they will look to take advantage of Napoli not playing on Tuesday to go top of the table when they welcome Monza to Rome, although that will mean that AC Milan drop points against Sassuolo.

After beating newly promoted Cremonese 1-0 last time out here, the hosts will fancy their chances of winning against another promoted side in Monza. The Giallorossi have won 18 of their last 19 home league matches against newly promoted sides (D1) and so it seems likely the sold-out Stadio Olimpico will have much to cheer about again.

Monza

Monza’s return to life in the top flight of Italian football has been far from perfect as they picked up zero points from their opening three games.

They began their journey with a 2-1 loss to Torino, followed by a 4-0 loss to Napoli and a 2-1 loss at home to Udinese in their last league outing.

Such form has seen them become the early favourites to drop back to relegation. As a result, pressure is growing on Monza coach Giovanni Stroppa, who was blasted by the ambitious club president Silvio Berlusconi for not following up on any of his previous suggestions.

However, their poor start to life in Serie A this season does not look to stop soon given that they have conceded three or more goals in three of their last five away league meetings.

Possible Monza starting line-up

Michele Di Gregorio; Marlon Santos, Luca Marrone, Carlos Augusto, Samuele Birindelli, Salvatore Molina; Andrea Colpani, Stefano Sensi, Mattia Valoti; Gianluca Caprari, Andrea Petagna.

Injured: Pablo Marí, Andrea Ranocchia, Marco D’Alessandro

Doubtful: None
