Liverpool’s Mbappe boost

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.

The World Cup winner could be on the move this summer and it seems that the Reds have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the attacker.

Apparently, PSG have secured a pre-contract agreement with Neymar and it might indicate that they are preparing to cash in on the Frenchman now.

Agreeing bumper new deals with both Neymar and Mbappe could limit the club’s transfer activity this summer and therefore it wouldn’t be surprising if the French outfit decided to cash in on their star attacker.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can make the most of this opportunity and lure Mbappe to Anfield at the end of this season.

Furthermore, the Reds recently secured a massive £543 million cash injection from Redbird investment firm and it could help them compete in the transfer market.

Alexander-Arnold dropped from Euro squad

Meanwhile, Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has been told that he will be dropped from England Euro 2020 squad.

The 22-year-old was recently dropped from the England squad during the international break and it seems that Gareth Southgate is unlikely to pick him for this summer’s showpiece event.

Alexander-Arnold was excellent against Arsenal at the weekend and it will be interesting to see if he can change the England manager’s mind in the coming weeks. But he had a horror-show tonight against Real Madrid in Champions League.

There is no doubt that the Liverpool defender is the best right back in the country on current form and England’s decision to leave him out of the Euro 2020 squad could cost them dearly.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s has just delivered three consecutive excellent defensive performances up against Nkunku, Pedro Neto & Aubameyang, but they’re not discussed as much as any isolated errors that he makes. Partly because it’s his attacking quality that grabs the headlines.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has lost possession more times (13) than any other player in the first half of tonight's Champions League quarter-finals. An unlucky number.
Trent Alexander-Arnold in the first half vs. Real Madrid:
68% pass accuracy
50% total duels won
13 x possession lost
1 error leading to goal
0 accurate crosses
0 chances created
Not doing much to quell the debate about his defensive ability.
