Lucas Torreira in talks with Jose Mourinho regarding Roma move

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira was on loan at Fiorentina last season, and he is also looking to stay in Serie A subsequent year.

The Uruguayan international has struggled to adapt to the Premier League, and a permanent move away from Arsenal would be ideal for him.

According to the latest reports, the player is open to a move to Roma, and Jose Mourinho’s side are keeping tabs on him.

The Mirror claim that the player has already spoken to Jose Mourinho regarding a move.

Recently, the player’s agent claimed that the Gunners have asked him to report for pre-season training, and he is in Arteta’s plans for next season.

It will be interesting to see if the Londoners are willing to sanction his departure in the coming weeks. Torreira could be a useful player for Arsenal if he manages to adapt to the Premier League.

Arsenal need to add more depth to their midfield, and Torreira would provide some much-needed quality in the defensive midfield area.

That said, the player has his heart set on a move to Italy, and it might not be wise to keep him against his wishes.

Also, Arsenal might not guarantee him a starting berth ahead of Thomas Partey next season. With the World Cup coming up, the midfielder needs to play regularly to cement his place in the national team squad.

A permanent move this summer seems ideal for all parties.

Meanwhile, Roma signed Nemanja Matic on a free transfer this summer. Still, the Serbian is past his peak, and Torreira would be a better option for the Italian giants for the defensive midfield role.

It remains to be seen whether they can now agree on a fee with the Gunners.
