Man United 1-0 West Ham: Dawson’s own goal cancels out Fabianski’s superlative performance

Marcus Rashford-Manchester United

Manchester United picked up a narrow 1-0 win over West Ham United in the Premier League earlier tonight.

The Red Devils managed to win the last League game against Manchester City 2-0 and they will be full of confidence right now.

The Premier League title race is probably beyond them right now but United are in impressive form and they will be hoping to cement their place as the League runners up this season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was without the likes of Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani earlier tonight but his side managed to grind out the win and he will be relieved with the result. He also chose to stick with Henderson as his starting keeper once again tonight and the academy graduate was quite impressive.

Meanwhile, West Ham United have been highly impressive so far this season and they are in with a good chance of securing European qualification.

They will be bitterly disappointed with the defeat tonight and the way the game unfolded.

The ever-reliable Craig Dawson scored an own goal for the visitors and it was enough to earn Manchester United all three points.

The likes of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood had decent opportunities to increase the advantage of the home side but they failed to find the net. Lukasz Fabianski was invincible and made few superb saves to keep Rashford, Fernandes and Greenwood at bay.

Mason Greenwood in particular managed to hit the post twice and he will be disappointed to have come away from the game without a goal.

The defeat tonight leaves West Ham on 48 points and they are fifth in the standings. Meanwhile Manchester United are second with 57 points. Moyes will demand a reaction from his players in the next game and it will be interesting to see if the Hammers can bounce back strongly.
