Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong has reportedly cleared his locker at Barcelona ahead of his potential move to Old Trafford this summer.

The Red Devils have courted the Dutch international in recent months as they look to replace the departing Paul Pogba.

De Jong previously worked with new Man United boss Erik Ten Hag at Ajax where the pair won the domestic double and reached a Champions League final together in 2019.

And so the former Ajax manager wants a reunion with De Jong, who he hopes to be at the centre of his rebuilding at Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old seems to be keen on the move and has reportedly cleared out his locker at the Barcelona training ground ahead of the move. According to Sportsmail, Barca have ‘intensified contact’ with interested clubs as they look to sell the former Ajax man for £80m, £20m more than United have offered.

The Dutch midfielder has been a regular at the club for the past three years, playing 140 games across all competitions while scoring 13 goals.

With the club hampered by recent financial issues, they are open to selling to raise transfer capital to target some other players.
