Manchester City can rely on Gabriel Jesus if their pursuit of Harry Kane fails

Premier League champions Manchester City can rely on Gabriel Jesus if their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane fails.

Manchester City have prioritised the signing of Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who is also open to joining the Premier League champions.

However, Spurs are reluctant to let go of their star striker and reportedly demanding an astronomical fee of £150m from Citizens.

Having already spent £100m on the transfer of Jack Grealish, City are now finding ways to generate funds for Kane and hence have placed many current first-team players on the chopping block.

Even if they fail to land the 28-year-old this summer, Man City can rely on the current crop of players, who could bring more or less similar impact to the striker position.

Gabriel Jesus can be Pep Guardiola’s trump card for the upcoming season, and the Brazilian is yet to make his mark since moving to City in 2017.

The Brazilian striker has been sparsely used by Guardiola over the last few seasons but has shown his potential whenever called upon.

Given that he is still 24 and wants to succeed at Man City, Jesus has the tendency to fill the void left by club legend Sergio Aguero.

On the other hand, City have a pool of attacking talents who can thrive in the centre-forward role.

Guardiola significantly used the false 9 tactics to better effect last season, and Raheem Sterling, Ferran Torres, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden have shown tactical flexibility.

Kane, without a doubt, will take City’s attack to the next level, but for the time being, nothing is guaranteed over his transfer this summer.
