Manchester United are interested in bringing Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier to Old Trafford this summer.

According to reports in the Daily Mail, the Red Devils have lined up a list of targets for recruitment this summer and have identified the England international as one a key part of their squad rebuild this summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in need of a right-back to provide cover and competition for Aaron Wan Bissaka and is looking to price Trippier away from Atletico Madrid, who are currently facing a financial crisis despite winning the La Liga title last season.

Everton are also credited with an interest in the defender but are behind Man United in the possible destination of the former Tottenham player.

The 30-year-old is seen as one of the best full-backs in world football and played a prominent role in Atletico Madrid’s run to the La Liga title despite not playing for months due to a betting ban.

United are also keeping close tabs on French defender Raphael Varane and have made him, alongside Trippier and Jadon Sancho, their priority targets this summer.

Solskjaer has made his desire to strengthen his squad public and is looking to bring in a crop of winners as he seeks to compete with Manchester City for the title.

Last month Solskjaer said: ‘If you want to take up the challenge with them, we need to strengthen our squad.

Congratulations to them. They’ve had a fantastic season, but I’m very pleased with my boys that we have made it to the last 10 days with a City side ahead of us that are lauded as the best in Europe.

‘We want to take the next step, and it might be that we need a couple more to strengthen the squad.’
