The Portuguese star’s shirt sales have skyrocketed after he was handed No.7

It has been a week full of records for the new Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

First, he broke the record for the most number of international goals when he netted a brace in Portugal’s 2-1 win against Ireland.

Now, he has set a new record for the shirt sales, especially the number of shirts sold after the Red Devils announced that he would take up the iconic No.7 were staggering.

As per reports, fans have spent 32m pounds on the Portugal star’s jersey within 12 hours after his squad number was revealed. Perhaps, it is a record for any Premier League player in that time frame.

Ronaldo also managed to surpass the likes of Lionel Messi and Jack Grealish in terms of shirt sales.

The Red Devils managed to snap up the 36-year-old from Juventus last week although City were allegedly in the transfer race.

Ever since Ronaldo’s announcement was made, the excitement and buzz shown from the fans have been unreal.

The most beautiful thing ever happened was Edinson Cavani giving away the number 7 shirt to Ronaldo.

The Portuguese international has fond memories at Old Trafford, the place which announced him to the footballing world as one of the best. His second spell is even filled with more expectations and many fans believe that he could inspire the Red Devils to the long-evading Premier League title.

Ronaldo is expected to make his debut next week in the Premier League clash against Newcastle United.
