Manchester United will look to get back to winning ways when they welcome Brighton to Old Trafford this Tuesday in their rescheduled 18th round game of the 2021/22 Premier League season.

Venue: Old Trafford

Key Statistics

Manchester United have failed to win despite leading at half-time in consecutive PL matches for the first time since 1998/99.

They have scored one goal a game in seven of their last ten games in all competitions.

The hosts have kept two clean sheets in their last ten games.

Brighton are unbeaten in their last seven league games (W3, D4).

Six of their last ten PL outings have finished 1-1.

Brighton had scored before half-time in just three of their last 12 PL matches but won all three.

Head to head

In the Premier League, both teams have met eight times. Manchester United have the upper hand, winning six of those fixtures, while Brighton have only two wins.

Manchester United

Manchester United’s chances of finishing in the top four took another hit on Saturday as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Southampton

After going ahead in the first half through Jadon Sancho, the Red Devils could not hold on for much of the game, with Che Adams equalising for Southampton to continue the ‘Saints’ good run of form and condemn United to their third dropped point in their last five PL games.

The result leaves the hosts sitting in fifth place, one point ahead of Arsenal, having played two games more. They are currently on a three-game winless run and come into this tie bereft of confidence.

With the other top-four challengers not in action till the weekend, Ralf Rangnick’s side will look to win this game and, that way, enter the top four again. Given their historical record against Brighton (W6, L2), they will fancy their chances of getting maximum points from this game.

Possible Man United starting line-up

David de Gea; Diogo Dalot, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw; Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay; Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Elanga; Cristiano Ronaldo.

Injured: Edinson Cavani, Fred, Nemanja Matic

Doubtful: Eric Bailly

Suspended: None

Brighton

Brighton extended their unbeaten run in the league to seven games (W4, D3) last time out when they beat 2-0, Watford, in Roy Hodgson’s first game.

The result was secured courtesy of goals from Neal Maupay and Adam Webster and kept Graham Potter’s side firmly rooted in ninth place. The Englishman is looking to become the coach to lead Brighton to their first-ever participation in European football and will be confident of doing so after he guided Sweden’s Östersund to their maiden UEFA appearance in the 2010s.

A win in this game will take them four points behind United with a game in hand.

Possible Brighton starting line-up

Robert Sanchez; Joel Veltman, Adam Webster, Lewis Dunk, Marc Cucurella; Yves Bissouma, Jakub Moder; Tariq Lamptey, Adam Lallana, Leandro Trossard; Danny Welbeck.

Injured: Enock Mwepu, Jeremy Sarmiento

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
