Manchester United’s failed pursuit of Sancho is a blessing in disguise

Jadon Sancho-Borussia Dortmund

The English winger has suffered a dip in his performance this season at Dortmund.

Manchester United were heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho in the summer transfer window after he turned out to be transfer priority.

However, the transfer couldn’t see it’s light after the German club stood firm on their valuation, which deemed to be expensive amid the financial crisis caused by the pandemic.

It also didn’t go well with the fans as Sancho was one of Europe’s best attackers last season if not the best.

Months have passed. Now the United faithful could have changed their perspective about the failed transfer as Sancho looks a shadow of his former self now.

The 20-year-old has failed to score a goal in 11 appearances for Dortmund this season negating his tally in the Champions League.

Last season, he hit double-figure for both goals and assists – achieved only by Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi.

Perhaps, the likes of Gio Reyna, Erling Haaland were able to overshadow Sancho with their impressive performances.

Elsewhere, United made a handful of signings on the deadline day of the summer transfer window as the likes of Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles moved to Old Trafford.

United have recovered well from their awful start to the season and now are third in the Premier League table.

Cavani has come up with goods whenever he was offered the chances and the Uruguayan is expected to do so for the rest of the season.

Sancho is still understood to be a top target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but for now, United are better off without the Bundesliga winger.
