Manchester United’s pursuit of Ruben Neves at an advanced stage

Ruben Neves-Wolves

The Wolves midfielder has emerged as a surprise target for the Red Devils.

Manchester United are interested in Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves ahead of a potential summer move.

According to EuroSport transfer expert Dean Jones, the Red Devils are speeding up their pursuit of the Portuguese playmaker and the development is said to be at an advanced stage.

Paul Pogba‘s transfer drama has been making the headlines lately as the Red Devils midfielder appears to be keen on an exit, with PSG posing as the potential suitors.

Hence, Man Utd are in the market for midfield reinforcements, and they have already been linked with Eduardo Camavinga, Leon Goretzka and Saul Niguez,

However, Jones feels that Neves has become a priority for the Red Devils, who are working on getting the deal over the line.

Transfer expert Jones said: ” I just haven’t heard a lot about Saul Niguez personally.”

“So it’s hard for me to assess that one. So I’d say because of the information I’ve had, and it all depends on your sources, I know for a fact that they do like Neves, that they’ve been working on it in the background, and it’s reasonably far down the line.

“And if they do want to progress with it, they can because the foundations have been laid.

“I don’t know about Saul Niguez, how much weight there really is behind that, so it’s difficult for me to judge.

“There’s enough out there to believe there’s some substance to it, but I’m sceptical because it’s Saul Niguez. This has happened a few times.”

It comes as a blow for the fellow Premier League club Arsenal, who have identified Neves as a top target to bolster their midfield.

The 24-year-old has been one of the finest midfielders of the English top-flight over the last few seasons and is known for his vision and for scoring long-range goals.
