Newcastle United agree on personal terms with Robin Gosens

Robin Gosens-Atalanta

Newcastle United are thought to be keen on signing the German defender Robin Gosens.

The 27-year-old had an outstanding European Championships campaign with his country, and he has been a star for Atalanta.

According to a report via Sport Bible, the Premier League side have already agreed on personal terms with the 27-year-old defender, and they are prepared to offer him a contract worth around £2.5 million per season.

Gosens will undoubtedly add a new dimension to the Newcastle side with his defensive and attacking input.

The 27-year-old German international is a reasonably good defender, and he is exceptional going forward.

He managed to score 11 goals and pick up six assists in 32 appearances for Atalanta last season. He managed to produce an exceptional display against Portugal in the European Championships as well.

Kieran TrippierNewcastle have already signed a quality right back in Kieran Trippier, and it seems that they want to improve their left-back department as well. Considering the fact that they have conceded over two goals on an average per game this season, improving their defence is certainly a wise decision.

The German defender is currently out of action with an injury, and he is set to return to action next month.

It will be interesting to see if Newcastle can agree on a fee with Atalanta now and secure his services before the January transfer window closes.

The magpies are currently battling relegation, and Eddie Howe will be hoping that his January signings can help steer the club away from danger and finish the season as strongly as possible.
