Manchester City are hoping to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa this summer.

According to the latest reports, manager Pep Guardiola has urged the club to complete the signing of the England international before the Community Shield on 7th August.

The two clubs are currently locked in talks regarding the transfer of the playmaker, and Grealish could become the most expensive player in the history of British football if the transfer goes through.

Manchester City are expected to submit an initial bid of around £75 million for the 25-year-old midfielder.

Aston Villa are reluctant to let the player leave this summer, and they are keen to offer him a new contract worth around £150,000 per week.

However, the report adds that the West Midlands club will not stand in his way if the player wants to leave this summer.

Grealish and Manchester City have already discussed personal terms, and agreeing on a contract should not be a problem for the two parties.

The midfielder scored six goals and picked up ten assists in the Premier League last season, and Manchester City are confident of signing him in the coming weeks.

The Premier League champions need to bring in a quality long term replacement for David Silva, and the England international seems like an ideal fit.

Grealish is well settled in the Premier League, and he could immediately impact Etihad next season. A player of his quality deserves to play Champions League football, and a move to Manchester City would be ideal for him.
