RB Leipzig beat Atletico Madrid to reach the semi finals of the Champions League last night.
If the German side go on to win the competition this year, it could spell trouble for Premier League giants Chelsea.
The Blues could drop into pot three and that would mean tougher group fixtures next season.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan are in the semi finals of the Europa League as well and if they end up winning their tournament, they will be in the Champions League as well and Chelsea will fall further down in the coefficient rankings.
Chelsea will be hoping that Leipzig crash out of the tournament soon.
The Blues will want to reasonable fixture list in the group stages of the Champions league next season. Being in pot 3 could leave them in a group of death.
It will be interesting to see how the likes of Leipzig and Inter perform in their upcoming semi finals. Both teams have impressed in their quarter final games and they will be desperate to go all the way this year.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s new signing Timo Werner will be wondering what could have been had he stayed at Leipzig until the end of the season.
He could have helped his former side win the biggest club competition in the world.
The German striker chose not to finish the season with Leipzig and he is now training with the Blues and preparing for the start of the next season.
