Manchester United recently sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a disappointing run of performances and the Norwegian’s departure could end up proving a blessing in disguise for certain players.

Here at Anytime football, we look at some of the players who could benefit from the Norwegian’s departure and some who might struggle in his absence.

Donny Van de Beek

The Dutch international midfielder has barely played under the Norwegian and he will be hoping to stake a claim in the starting lineup under the new manager now.

Solskjaer’s departure has certainly handed him a new lease of life at Manchester United and it remains to be seen whether the midfielder can hold down a regular starting berth in the coming months.

Eric Bailly

The centre back has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester United and a managerial change could give him the opportunity he needs to prove his worth at Old Trafford.

Bailly has shown in the past that he has the quality to play for a top Premier League club and he will be hoping to dislodge the likes of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof in the starting lineup.

Jadon Sancho

Manchester United paid a substantial amount of money to lure him away from Borussia Dortmund but the England international winger has not been a regular starter under Solskjaer.

There is no doubt that Jadon Sancho has world-class potential and he will be hoping to impress the new manager and hold down a regular starting berth now.

Fred

The Brazilian midfielder has been quite underwhelming but he had the backing of the Norwegian manager and he was a regular starter for Manchester United.

The arrival of a new manager could put Fred under pressure especially if the likes of Donny van de Beek can step up their performances and push for a starting berth.

Harry Maguire

The England international is the most expensive Manchester United defender of all time but he has been quite poor this season.

The former Leicester City star might be struggling with injury issues but his performances do not warrant his place in the starting lineup. Solskjaer kept playing him in recent weeks even though he produced error-prone displays.

If the likes of Eric Bailly can improve in the coming weeks, Maguire’s starting berth could be under threat.
