Bayern Munich keen on Pedri

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are thought to be keen on signing the Barcelona midfielder Pedri during the January transfer window or at the end of this season.

According to a report from AS, Bayern Munich are willing to spend a club-record fee on the Spanish youngster and it remains to be seen whether Barcelona are keen to let go of their prized asset.

The German outfit paid around €80 million for Lucas Hernandez two years ago and they are prepared to exceed that fee for the midfielder.

Pedri has established himself as a key player for Barcelona and Spain over the past year and there is no doubt that he has the potential to develop into a world-class footballer.

The midfielder has a contract with Barcelona until 2026 and he has a release clause of €1 billion.

Barcelona are definitely under no pressure to sell him just yet and Bayern Munich will have to come up with an outrageous offer to tempt the La Liga giants.

Barcelona keen to terminate Samuel Umtiti’s contract

Meanwhile, Barcelona are now looking to rescind the contract of French international defender Samuel Umtiti.

According to Sport, the defender has a high salary and the Spanish club are currently going through a financial crisis.

Umtiti has a contract with the Spanish club until the summer of 2023 but Barcelona are keen to let him leave in order to reduce their wage bill right now.

It will be interesting to see if the two parties can negotiate a reasonable severance package in the coming weeks.

The defender has fallen down the pecking order at Barcelona and he needs to leave the club in order to play regular first-team football and a move away from Barcelona wouldn’t be a bad option for him.
