PSG set to rival Barcelona for Man City defender’s signature

Barcelona submit £8m bid for Manchester City defender Eric Garcia

Manchester City defender Eric Garcia has been linked with a move away from the Premier League club and he is thought to be a target for Spanish club Barcelona.

According to Mundo Deportivo, French outfit Paris Saint Germain are now prepared to challenge Barcelona for the defenders signature.

Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign the talented young centre back and it remains to be seen whether they can fend off the competition from his former club.

Eric Garcia will be a free agent at the end of this season and signing a player of his calibre on a free transfer would be a massive coup.

The report further claims that the player is keen on a return to Barcelona and therefore the Spanish giants have an edge in the transfer chase.

It will be interesting to see if PSG try and hijack the move by submitting an offer this month instead of waiting for the summer transfer window.

Barcelona are unwilling to pay money for the defender and they will wait to snap him up on a free transfer in the summer.

Manchester City are prepared to sell the defender this month for a fee of around €10 million and PSG can certainly afford that.

It remains to be seen where the defender ends up eventually. Garcia has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester City and he needs to leave in search of regular first-team football.

A move this month would be ideal for the youngster or he will have to spend the second half of the season on the Premier League club’s bench.
