Southampton

After several weeks of trying, Southampton finally got a Premier League win on Boxing Day when they defeated West Ham United in a five-goal thriller.

Goals from Mohamed Elyounoussi, James Ward-Prowse and Jan Bednarek gave the hosts all three points in a 3-2 win despite the efforts of West Ham, who scored through Michail Antonio and Benrahma.

The win means that the Saints come into this matchday sitting in 14th place, nine points ahead of the relegation places. They have lost just one of their last seven home games. But just two of those games saw them take maximum points, with four disappointing draws in that period.

However, Ralph Hassenhuttle’s side have the quality to cause Tottenham problems and will be desperate to take at least a point from this game.

The result was also enough to push the London side to fifth place on the table, six points behind Arsenal who have played three games more.

With momentum on their side, they will be desperate to continue on that run by taking maximum points against Southampton. Three wins from their last five head-to-head meetings with the Saints means that Conte’s men have the advantage in this tie.
