Watford

After over 17 days without playing a competitive game, Watford are back in Premier League action this Tuesday as they take on West Ham United.

The Hornets have not played a game since after their 2-1 loss to Brentford on the 10th of December. They have been one of the club’s most affected by the Covid surge.

But with the virus contained, they come into this tie hoping to pick up the points that will push them further away from the relegation zone.

Claudio Ranieri’s men are currently occupying the 17th spot in the table, just two points ahead of the drop zone.

They have lost six of their last seven PL games, conceding at least two goals in each of their last four games.

A win in this game will be a massive boost for their survival chances, while a loss will be damaging as it could see them drop into the relegation zone if Burnley pick up a win in their own game.

Possible Watford starting line-ups

Daniel Bachmann; Kiko Femenia, William Troost-Ekong, Craig Cathcart, Danny Rose; Moussa Sissoko, Juraj Kucka; Joao Pedro, Tom Cleverley, Josh King; Emmanuel  Dennis.

Injured: Ismaïla Sarr, Ben Foster, Nicolas Nkoulou, Francisco Sierralta, Peter Etebo

West Ham United

West Ham have gone from top four contenders to a team struggling to finish in the top seven in the space of six weeks.

The Hammers were sitting comfortably in the top three just before the November international break. But since beating Liverpool 3-2, their form has nosedived. Apart from another 3-2 win over Chelsea, they have not won a PL game since November 7th, when they defeated Liverpool.

In that period, they have played six league games but have won just once (the aforementioned win against Chelsea) and drawn one, losing the other four. They come into this game fresh from a 3-2 loss to Southampton.

The result was their third loss on the bounce following losses to Tottenham in the EFL Cup and Arsenal in the PL last weekend. Because of these losses, David Moyes’ side are coming into this round of games sitting in sixth, seven points behind Arsenal in fourth.

With just three points between them and Wolves who are in eight, the visitors are in danger of even dropping further down unless they find a way to arrest their recent slump.

They will be desperate to do that against the Hornets and will be boosted by the return of Michail Antonio, who scored in their defeat to Southampton on Boxing Day.

Possible West Ham starting line-ups

Lukasz Fabianski; Benjamin Johnson, Craig Dawson, Issa Diop, Arthur Masuaku; Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek; Manuel Lanzini, Pablo Fornals, Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio.

Injured: Aaron Cresswell, Kurt Zouma, Angelo Ogbonna

Suspended: None
