Tottenham Hotspur are in talks to sign the Barcelona central midfielder Ilaix Moriba this summer.

According to Sky Sports, the Premier League outfit are currently closing in an agreement with the La Liga giants and personal terms with the player would not be a problem for them.

Tottenham are not the only club looking to sign the highly talented 18 year old central midfielder and Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig are thought to be keen on securing his services as well.

Moriba has just one year left on his current contract with the Spanish outfit and he is not keen on signing a contract extension with them.

The Barcelona academy product is prodigiously talented and he has a massive future ahead of him.

Moriba could develop into a top class player with the right coaching and game time and a move to the Premier League could be ideal for him.

The challenging environment of English football and the opportunity to play alongside top class players could accelerate his development.

Furthermore, the newly appointed Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo did well to nurture young players during his time at Wolverhampton Wanderers and he could be the ideal coach to bring out the best in the Barcelona youngster.

The London club have already sanctioned the departure of Moussa Sissoko to Watford and they are hoping to sell Tanguy Ndombele as well if the Frenchman’s valuation is met.

There is no doubt that they need to bring in central midfielders this summer and Moriba could prove to be a superb long term investment for them.

Apparently, Barcelona want a fee in the region of £17 million for the 18 year old central midfielder and it will be interesting to see if the Londoners are willing to pay up before the transfer window closes.
