Tottenham are keen on signing the 22-year-old Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu in the summer.

According to reports, the Premier League club are set to submit a bid for the versatile defender after agreeing on personal terms with him earlier this summer.

The Premier League side are reportedly looking to submit a bid of around £17 million for the defender, and Tomiyasu certainly has the talent to justify that outlay in the long run.

The Londoners are thought to be closing in on the signing of Cristian Romero, and Tomiyasu could be their second defensive addition.

Tottenham have sanctioned the departure of Toby Alderweireld, and Davinson Sanchez could follow him out of the club before the transfer window shuts.

It is evident that they will need more than one centre back, and Tomiyasu could prove to be a superb long term acquisition.

The Japanese international can operate as the right pack and a centre back. Nuno Espirito Santo could use a quality and versatile defender like him in his side, and the Japanese is reportedly open to the transfer as well.

The player was on international duty because of the Olympics, and his future could now be sorted soon.

The Japanese international is still quite young, and he is likely to improve in the future with experience and coaching.

If he manages to fulfil his potential with the London club, Spurs could have a bargain on their hands.
