Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is expected to sign a new contract with the club.
According to reports, Manchester City are hopeful that the Spanish manager will sign a new contract with them but they are prepared to search for a replacement if Guardiola signals his desire to leave.
The Premier League Giants are also looking to explore the possibility of signing Lionel Messi if the Argentine decides to leave Barcelona next summer.
It will be interesting to see if Manchester City can convince Guardiola to extend his stay at the club. The former Barcelona manager is out of contract next summer and city are eager for him to stay for the long haul.
Manchester City are yet to win the Champions League under Guardiola and the Spanish manager will be desperate to achieve that before he chooses to move on.
Furthermore the Premier League side failed to win the title last year and they will be looking to reclaim their domestic Crown this year.
“It speaks as to how far the club has come that Pep has done his longest managerial tenure with us. That means that he is happy being here,” Manchester City COO, Omar Berrada said. “He is comfortable here. Pep is the best manager in the world and we want him to stay.
“We will have a conversation with him at the right time and hope he does extend his stay because his contribution has been enormous and will be long-lasting. Those conversations will happen at the right time but our position is very clear: we do want him to stay.
“If there was a sense that we would need to start planning for succession, then we will do so, but our priority is doing what we can and speaking to him to make sure he feels comfortable and that all the circumstances are right for him to continue.”
