West Ham 3-3 Arsenal: Gunners pull off a stunning turnaround, Lacazette grabs late equaliser

Lacazette-Arsenal

Arsenal came from 3 goals down to complete a brilliant come back against the Hammers.

London Stadium witnessed one of the best games of the Premier League this season after Arsenal put on a great fight to cancel out West Ham United’s three early goals.

Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard kick-started the things with a stunning strike in the 15th minute before Jared Bowen and Tomas Soucek followed up with two more goals in the space of seventeen minutes, tearing the Gunners’ defence apart.

Arsenal opened their account after Alexandre Lacazette fired his shot into the nets, which took a deflection off Soucek, before halftime.

The Gunners built on the momentum they had before the break and soon they had been gifted their second goal of the game after Hammers defender Craig Dawson lashed a shot into his own nets horribly.

The game had a fitting final quarter as Hammers squandered a couple of good chances before Lacazette grabbed the equaliser in the 82nd minute. The French striker netted an impressive header after what turned out to be a precise cross from substitute Nicolas Pepe.

Hammers failed to go on level with Chelsea at fourth place after the draw meanwhile Arsenal are ninth in the table and are nine points away from the top-four.

Real Madrid loanee Martin Odegaard has had his best game form since his loan move and the Norwegian brilliantly orchestrated Arsenal’s attack in the midfield.

Another defining moment of the game was the costly miss by Hammers striker Antonio before Gunners scored their third goal. Perhaps, Antonio couldn’t make much of Said Benrahma’s cross as his shot off the left foot eventually found the woodwork.

Mikel Arteta got his attacking traits right as he was able to break down the crowded defence of West Ham at ease. However, the defence remains an area of concern for the Spanish manager.
