West Ham United sign Alphonse Areola from PSG today as they agreed on a fee

Fulham sign Alphonse Areola on loan from PSG

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Alphonse Areola joined West Ham United after reaching an agreement over a £10.5million fee.

The shot-stopper has been loaned out to several clubs, including Real Madrid, Villarreal, and Fulham, over the past seven years. Since signing a professional contract with PSG in 2009, Areola reportedly impressed West Ham, making 17 appearances for the side. The Hammers aim to sign him to continue the successful inputs for the next season. He is currently on loan with West Ham United and is now offered a five-year contract.

According to Daily Mail, Areola is set to challenge West Ham’s current goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski for the West Ham No 1 shirt, making himself worthy for the Hammers, which he failed to establish during his season at PSG.

West Ham manager David Moyes wanted to add a goalkeeper to his side as a backup to Fabianski. Moyes believes that they can learn from each other while fulfilling the same roles for the club.

Meanwhile, the deal between Manchester Utd are also close to sealing with Jesse Lingard exiting the club as a free agent from the end of next week. West Ham are going to approach and present a new offer for the 29-year-old. Lingard imprinted a good game at West Ham, who scored nine goals in 16 matches while on loan at the club in 2021.
