Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe has revealed that he is frustrated with his situation at the club.

The 25-year-old is not a regular starter for the London club and he is not happy about it.

Arsenal signed Willian on a free transfer this summer and the Brazilian has been starting ahead of Pepe.

The winger has explained that Mikel Arteta wants him focused during games but he is frustrated with the lack of action this season.

Arsenal spent £72 million on the player but he has struggled in England so far and the transfer episode recently caused a rippling effect on media. it will be interesting to see if he can convince Mikel Arteta that he is ready for a regular first team role in the side.

Pepe has made just seven appearances in the Premier League this campaign but most of them have been as a substitute.

It is understandable that the winger wants a regular starting role but he will have to prove his worth to the manager in training in order to claim Willian’s starting birth.

It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds in the coming months.

He said: “My goal is to play more. Have a little more playing time. A player who plays is happy. For me, I would like to play a little more to find a smile again.

“He [Arteta] wants me to be 100 percent focused during the 90 minutes of the match.

“Afterwards, I see during training that I will be a substitute the following weekend. But the coach speaks to me, he also has assistants who are there for that.

“But it is frustrating for any player to be on the bench.

“The coach makes his choices. It’s up to me to show him that I don’t have that role.
