Wolves 2-1 Chelsea: Chelsea crash to consecutive defeats as Neto scores late winner

Frank Lampard

Wolves managed to pick up a 2-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League earlier.

Frank Lampard’s team were the favourites heading into the game, and the Chelsea manager will be thoroughly disappointed with his team’s performance here.

The Blues were in quite an impressive form in recent months and two back to back defeats against Everton and Wolves will have them worried now.

Olivier Giroud handed the away side their lead on the 49th minute, but Chelsea failed to hold on to their advantage.

Wolverhampton Wanderers got back into the game when Daniel Podence scored on the 66th minute.

Pedro Neto scored a stunning winner on the 95th minute to secure all three points for the home side in the end.

Chelsea had other chances to score in the game, and the likes of Kurt Zouma rattled the crossbar.

Meanwhile, Wolves were awarded a penalty in the second half as well, but it was overturned after a VAR check.

The win tonight takes Wolverhampton Wanderers up to 9th in the Premier League table with 20 points, and Chelsea remain 5th on 22 points.

Chelsea will be expected to challenge for the Premier League title this year, and they cannot afford to drop points in these games. It will be interesting to see how they bounce back in their next game now.
