Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly agreed to part ways with their coach Mauricio Pochettino this summer.

According to The Athletic, the French Ligue 1 giants do not want to continue with the Argentine man as their coach and have moved to end his contract at the Parc des Princes.

Pochettino have been at PSG for just 18 months, winning just two trophies in that period and missing out on the Champions League. The Parisians won the Ligue 1 title last season but failed to knock out Real Madrid from the Champions League while they also got beaten by Nice in the French domestic cup.

However, the details of the break-up remain unknown to The Athletic, who reveal that his contract still runs until the summer of 2023.

But the report also claims that sporting director Leonardo will also leave the club, with the owners reportedly willing to carry out a team and staff rebuilding.

Amidst the drama, former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has been tipped as the front runner to take the reins at Paris Saint-Germain next season.

The Frenchman has been linked by various media houses to the job at Parc de Princes. But, his agent has already denied those claims on several occasions. PSG see Zidane as the ideal candidate as they are prioritising the appointment of a manager with a proven track record of success in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, according to the report in The Athletic, Nice coach Christophe Galtier is the main favourite to take over at PSG.

AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho is also reported as a potential candidate to succeed Pochettino.
