Real Madrid
picked up a 2-1 win over Granada in the Spanish league yesterday at Los Cármenes and now they are one step away from winning the league title.

Los Blancos are four points clear of Barcelona at the top of the table and one more win would secure the domestic crown for Zinedine Zidane’s side.

The French manager has done remarkably well to turn around Real Madrid’s season this year. At the start of the season, they were fighting for a place in the top four and now they are on the cusp of glory.

Ferland Mendy and Karim Benzema scored the all-important goals for Real Madrid last night. Granada came back into the game through Darwin Machis but they failed to build on that and get something out of the game.

Real Madrid have the best defence in the country right now and they managed to hold on for the all-important three points once again.

Mendy scored the opening goal of the game when he beat Victor Diaz for pace and smashed it into the top corner on the 10th minute. Benzema doubled the advantage from a swift counter-attacking move six minutes later.

Barcelona will need a miracle to win the league now. They will be thoroughly disappointed with the way they have faltered this season.

Meanwhile, the defeat leaves Granada tenth in the standings with 50 points from 36 games.
