Bayern Munich wanted to sign the Uruguayan midfielder in the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid had rejected an offer from Bayern Munich for Federico Valverde.

According to reports, Bayern considered a move for Valverde in the summer transfer window in an attempt to find a replacement for Thiago Alcantara.

Bayern lost the Spaniard to Liverpool last month but were able to sign his compatriot Marc Roca from Espanyol.

Before they signed Roca, Bayern tried to sign Valverde only for Real Madrid to turn down the offer.

The Bavarians cited the Uruguayan could be a perfect fit for their side, having been impressed with this fast-paced nature.

Valverde has been on the rise in recent years after getting promoted to the first team from Real Madrid Castilla.

The 22-year-old had his breakthrough last season and quickly became an integral part of the side. He scored 3 goals and set up five more in the process, helping the Los Blancos win the La Liga title.

Valverde continues to be an important feature for Zinedine Zidane as he has starred in all of the league games this season so far. He also featured in Uruguay’s recent World Cup qualifying game against Chile, where his side ended up as the winners.

Prior to the game, Valverde stated that he is still in the learning phase despite enjoying much success last season.

Bayern’s interest doesn’t come as a surprise given Valverde’s potential but he is strongly inclined towards continuing his development with Los Blancos and winning trophies with them.

Madrid would also never try to sell the young midfielder, who is poised for a greater future.
